Le's Sandwiches and Cafe’ is Charlotte's first authentic Bahn Mi restaurant in Charlotte, established almost 20 years ago at the Asian Corner Mall in the Sugar Creek Corridor. Their mission is to serve the greater Charlotte area with consistent and affordable, authentic Vietnamese sandwiches and beverages, creating a sensory experience for customers, while contributing to the diverse food landscape of the region. The business is a second generation minority owned small business.

After the sale of the Asian Corner Mall, Le’s relocated to a new location near the Mall, 1.5 miles from NoDa and .5 mile from the light rail, as part of a project to reinvent the area into a mixed-use space with condos, restaurants and shopping. With the change, Le's is focused on creating efficiencies and increasing production, ensuring a strong menu to help offset the rising costs in the corridor.

A Beyond Open grant was used to purchase industrial kitchen supplies, including a dough mixer and steamer to prepare Bao.

“We bought equipment to make baos, Vietnamese steamed buns which helped us bring in revenue, [due to] about 300% increase in our Bao making…Charlotte needs more mom and pop shops, authentic restaurants…We wanted to bring that authenticity to Charlotte, let people have a taste of what Vietnam was.” - Tuan Nguyen
